My mom was flipping through channels searching for cartoons for NiNi when she landed on Jaime Lee Curtis doing an Activia commercial. NiNi said,

"Grandma, that's not cartoons, that's Barak Obama".

Hmmmmm...I guess they both have short hair, otherwise I don't see much similarity. Also, not sure where the fixation with him comes from. Maybe she is just picking it up from the news.

NiNi disobeyed me at the dinner table. Trying to elicit some form of compliance from her I said, "What do you say to mommy?" She said,

"Yes-maam-sorry-please-and-thankyou"

I guess she thought that one of them was bound to do the trick

NiNi is going through an extremely possessive stage where she claims ownership to every item in the house. Her defense when anyone tries to set her straight is, "But I got it for my birthday party!"

Easter pics

We took the girls to the free Easter egg hunt at the park by our house. Envision large soccer field littered with plastic eggs and a throng of children, moving as an amoeba across the grass. The hunt started at 1:00 and was over at about 1:03. I kept yelling to Meagan, "Be aggressive, be aggressive!"

Still clean. Incidentally, to my horror, I caught them playing in the sandbox 5 minutes before it was time to leave for church

I went in to get NiNi up from her nap and found her like this

NiNi quotes of the week:
"Look mom, I'm spitting. It sounds like music"

"Mom, are you done? Yes or No?"

"Sissy, come here. I won't spank you, I promise."

"Mommy, we both have big bellies. Our bellies match."

Happy Spring

Recent Quotes:

NiNi: (rebuking her father) "Daddy, you ate my candy. That was unacceptable"

Meagan: (Commenting on our trip to the zoo) "That was fun, mom. Not NiNi screaming, but the rest was fun"

NiNi: "Mommy, I'm so so hungry...can I have some leftovers?"

NiNi: "NiNi's born in China....Sissy's born in Bak-Obama" (I couldn't believe that she said this so I asked her a second time and she said exactly the same thing!)

2nd Annual Mayah's Fund fundraiser

Mayah's Fund

Check out our Mayah's Fund blog.... this is the sweet little baby we are sponsoring for cleft surgery this year.

P.S. Without my knowing, Meagan got an envelope and put in $12 of her birthday money "for baby Gail"...that's a lot of dough for an 8 year old!

Deep Thoughts by Meagan

"Does God really have hands?" (as in "He's got the whole world in his hands")

"Does the moon float?"

"What color was a T-Rex?"

On Tuesday of this week (St. Patty's Day) Meagan was being really slow to get ready for school. I was trying to hurry her along and was becoming more and more irritated at her sluggishness. Finally she said, all dramatic-like, "Mom, let's not argue on St. Patrick's day."

The flu...enough said

We took NiNi to the doctor on Monday for what I thought was a really bad sinus infection. It turned out to be Type A influenza. Incidentally, as I recall, Chris had it this same time last year. We are all getting flu shots this year. What was I thinking? Both of my kids are in school/daycare and I work in a nursing home for heaven's sake. Not to mention that NiNi and I seem to have no immune systems whatsoever. Anyway, NiNi has been absolutely miserable...temps up to 104, vomiting, cough, runny nose, the works... and the doctor said it could last 2 weeks. We are all taking Tamiflu. $60 per prescription. You do the math. Little did I know that they don't think Tamiflu is covering the Type A virus this year. Oh, well. It may have somewhat of a placebo effect because the rest of us have not come down with it yet. Also, Meagan turned 8 this week and I can't believe that I did not do a blog post about it. It's true, I am a bad mom. Or just very tired. Or both. The girls have been very funny lately. Here are more quotes:

Me: "Who is Jesus?"
NiNi: "The brown one"

Me: "NiNi, do you want some ravioli?"
NiNi: "Yes, make mine warm and slicey"

Meagan: "Is God fun or scary?"
I think I replied something like, "a little of both"

NiNi (after Meagan told her NO about something): "Sissy, don't sass me"

NiNi (showing me the booger she just pulled out of her nose): "Look mom, it's a snake!"

Every night when I tuck NiNi into bed I say, "Good night" and she says, "Happy birthday, mom"
