The jig is up

Ok, so you know our silent, stoic, don't-look-at-me little girl. Well, last night Alina woke up in the middle of the night and apparently thought she was back in her familiar environment. Chris and I awoke to sounds of her playing, talking, and even giggling in her crib. She let me play the 'gotcha' game with her for a few minutes (maybe I look Chinese in the dark!). This morning she gave us that familiar "Oh, great you're STILL here" look and back to the same "don't look at me and I won't look at you" routine. But hey, now the secret is out! I'm trying again to post pictures of the past few days

Chris, Jen and Alina,

Wow! How exciting! Enjoy your time in China when Alina is around sights and sounds she is familiar with. While we were in Romania, we asked as many questions as we could, taking advantage of our contact person who could speak the language and translate.

This morning I was following a prepared quiet time for my Bible reading. It was so funny because the reading of the day was Judges 4, but instead I read Ruth 4. I laughed at myself and then thought that maybe God allowed me to read the "wrong" passage for a reason. It was then that I thought of you! It was such a big thing back then to have a "redeemer", someone who would have children with a widow to carry on the family name. Naomi was helpless based on her circumstances. You know the story . . . In Ruth 4:14,15, the town women said of the birth of Naomi's grandson, "Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! He shall be to you a restorer of life." That's like with you. God has not left you without a child. May his name be known in China and in Indiana! He IS a restorer of life!

Can't wait to welcome you all home.

Love in Christ,

Kathy

Jen,

We excitedly look for pictures every day on the blog. Sydney's main response every time she sees a picture of Alina is "Awwwww". It will be exciting to see her little personality blossom. You are right- she does look like a Reuter and will blend right in to our crazy family! You guys are doing a great job. She'll warm up. How could she resist loving you guys back?! We miss you and can't wait to see you in the flesh!

Love,

Laura
