stitches

As we were getting ready for our super bowl party last night, NiNi was seeing how well she could balance on a kitchen chair.  Turns out, not too well because she ended up smacking her face into said chair and gashing open her lip.  Got three stitches out of the deal.  The really hilarious part was watching her "drunk" on Versed (a light sedative).  She was singing Old MacDonald at the top of her lungs but couldn't remember all the words.  "Old MacDonald had a ........"  And then a hearty "Eieioooo"  She didn't even flinch when the doc stitched it up.  As we were leaving the ER she said, "Well that was not a long surgery"  I said, "Yeah, because you just got stitches."  She said, "Really?  Stitches?  Well, mom, then I "heart" stitches"  (like the bumper stickers).  She remembered very little of the whole ordeal this morning.  Right now she looks like one of those Hollywood "lip enhancement gone bad" pictures.  Thankfully there was no school today and we are hoping most of the swelling will be gone by tomorrow.
